Collimation Tester – Shear Plate

Salvo Electro-Optic’s Shear plate, collimation tester consists of a piece of the highest-quality fused silica for transmission capability from 185nm-2.1µm and is available in sizes ranging from 10mm-250mm. The shear plates come mounted in a rugged (or sturdy), thick metal base with leveled positioning stainless steel mounting feet. The wedge angle for each plate size is optimized for the range of the acceptable beam sizes. Since wavefront curvature can be measured with our larger diameter collimation tester, these can be used to measure surfaces with large radii with some calculations. The wavefront is measured at the screen and the surface-to-screen distance must be added or subtracted, depending on whether the surface is concave or convex. The mirror radius is twice the wavefront radius.
